Open Diamond Crochet Stitch is a beginner-friendly crochet pattern with lots of open spaces separated by stacked diamonds.

Made with basic crochet stitches, including chain, single crochet, and double crochet, it is a single row repeat pattern with each motif spread over 4 stitches.

beg	beginning
ch	chain
dc	double crochet
rep	repeat
sk	skip
st (s)	stitch (es)
t-ch	turning chain

Special stitch:

diamond st –

1. make 1dc in indicated st, ch1.
2. working diagonally, make 3dc around the post of the dc last made.

Pattern Instructions

Foundation ch: (Multiple of 4) + 1, plus 3 beg ch.
For example, start with (4 x 5) + 1 + 3 = 24 ch for a sample swatch.

Row 1 (RS):	1 [diamond st] in 6th ch from hook, * sk next 3 ch, 1 [diamond st] in next ch; rep from * to last 2 sts, sk next ch, 1dc in last ch, turn.
Row 2:	ch3, * 1 [diamond st] in the top dc of diamond st from prev row; rep from * to t-ch, 1dc in t-ch, turn.

Repeat Row 2 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
