Stacked Open Shell Crochet Stitch is another type of the classic Open Shell stitch with slight different arrangement of stitches.

This beginner friendly crochet stitch repeats over 6 stitches and 2 rows. Just like the other shell stitch variations, it is also a universal stitch that fits in many different types of projects.

Pattern Instructions

Foundation ch: (Multiple of 6) + 1, plus 4 beg ch.
For example, start with (6 x 4) + 1 + 4 = 29 ch for a sample swatch.

Row 1 (WS):	1dc in 5th ch from hook, * sk next 2 ch, 1dc in next ch, sk next 2 ch, (1dc, ch3, 1dc) in next ch; rep from * to last 6 sts, sk next 2 ch, 1dc in next ch, sk next 2 ch, (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in last ch, turn.
Row 2:	ch3 (counts as 1dc), 2dc in next ch1-sp, * 5dc in next ch3-sp; rep from * to t-ch, 3dc in t-ch, turn.
Row 3:	ch4 (counts as 1dc and ch1), 1dc in same st, * sk next 2 dc, 1dc in sp bet 2 3dc & 5dc shells, sk next 2 dc, (1dc, ch3, 1dc) in next dc; rep from * to last 5 sts, sk next 2 dc, 1dc in sp bet 2 3dc & 5dc shells, sk next 2 dc, (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in top of t-ch, turn.

Repeat Rows 2 & 3 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
