Celtic Weave Crochet Stitch | Crochet with Aabhar
Celtic Weave is a fairly advanced crochet stitch creating a decorative and geometric patterned fabric. It is a two row repeat made with front and back post treble stitches, making it appear like a woven basket design.
It is a perfect choice for different crochet projects, be it blankets, scarves, baskets, or even market bags. Additionally, it is excellent option for winter accessories as it makes a dense fabric – imagine cowls, hats.

Pattern Instructions
Foundation ch: (Multiple of 4) + 1, plus 3 beg ch.
For example, start with (4 x 4) + 1 + 3 = 20 ch for a sample swatch.
| Row 1 (WS): | 1dc in 4th ch from hook, * 1dc in next ch; rep from * to end. |
| Row 2: | ch3 (counts as 1dc), * sk next 2 dc, 1fptr in next 2 dc, 1fptr in 2 skipped sts working in front of the prev 2 fptr sts; rep from * to last st, 1dc in t-ch, turn. |
| Row 3: | ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1bptr in next 2 sts, * sk next 2 dc, 1bptr in next 2 sts, 1bptr in 2 skipped sts working behind the prev 2 bptr sts; rep from * to last 3 sts, 1bptr in next 2 sts, 1dc in t-ch, turn. |
Repeat Rows 2 & 3 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
