Textured Honeycomb Crochet Stitch | Crochet with Aabhar

Textured Honeycomb is a non-reversible crochet stitch with impressive eye-catching texture and creates a thicker fabric than usual. Visually, it is similar to the Tunisian Smock stitch and is also referred to as Smock stitch in the community.

This crochet stitch will look awesome in any color yarn, whether it is a solid color or variegated yarn. It is an intermediate-level crochet stitch that uses up a lot of yarn but it works up quickly.

This free pattern is written using US crochet terms.

beg	beginning
ch	chain
dc	double crochet
fpdc	front post double crochet
rep	repeat
sk	skip
st (s)	stitch (es)
t-ch	turning chain

Special stitches:

spike-sc (single crochet spike stitch): make an elongated single crochet stitch by inserting hook in designated space 2 rows below.

join-sc (single crochet join stitch): make a single crochet stitch by inserting hook under the first and next bar created by the spike-sc in the previous row.

Pattern Instructions

Foundation ch: Multiple of 2, plus 1 beg ch.
For example, start with (2 x 10) + 1 = 21 ch for a sample swatch.

Row 1 (WS):	1sc in 2nd ch from hook, * 1sc in next ch; rep from * to end, turn.
Row 2:	ch1, 1sc in 1st sc, * 1sc in next sc; rep from * to end, turn.
Row 3:	ch1, 1sc in 1st st, * spike-sc in next st, 1sc in next sc; rep from * to last st, spike-sc in last st, turn.
Row 4:	ch1, 1sc in 1st st, * join-sc in next st, 1sc in next sc; rep from * to last st, 1sc in last st, turn.
Row 5:	ch1, spike-sc in next st, 1sc in next st, * spike-sc in next st [make sure hook comes out in middle of the 2 loops of the spike st on the other side], 1sc in next st; rep from * to last st, 1sc in last st, turn.
Row 6:	ch1, 1sc in 1st st, 1sc in next st, * join-sc in next st, 1sc in next st; rep from * to end, turn.

Repeat Rows 3 – 6 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
