Moss & Cable Checks Stitch | Knit with Aabhar

Pattern Description

Moss & Cable Checks stitch is a slightly complex and advanced knitting pattern with alternating checks of moss (or seed) stitch and 4-stitch cables. It almost looks like simple cables alternating with textured cables that resemble ‘seed pod cables.’

This highly textured knitting stitch will work nicely for men’s pullovers and cardigans.

CO	Cast on
k	Knit
p	Purl
rep	Repeat
RS	Right side
st (s)	Stitch (es)
WS	Wrong side

Special stitches:

C4B (Cable 4 Back, also called 2/2 Right Cross (2/2 RC)) –

1. Slip next 2 stitches off the left needle, hold them in back of work
2. Transfer next 2 stitches from left needle to right needle
3. Pick up the 2 slipped stitches on the left needle
4. Transfer the 2 stitches from right needle back to left needle
5. Knit all 4 stitches

C4F (Cable 4 Front, also called 2/2 Left Cross (2/2 LC)) –

1. Slip next 2 stitches off the left needle, hold them in front of work
2. Transfer next 2 stitches from left needle to right needle
3. Pick up the 2 slipped stitches on the left needle
4. Transfer the 2 stitches from right needle back to left needle
5. Knit all 4 stitches

CO (Multiple of 20 stitches) + 12 stitches. For example, you can cast on (20 x 1) + 12 = 32 stitches to knit a sample swatch.

Row 1 (RS):	p2, k8, p2, * (k1, p1) x 3 times, k2, p2, k8, p2; rep from * to end.
Row 2:	k2, p8, k2, * (p1, k1) x 3 times, p2, k2, p8, k2; rep from * to end.
Row 3:	Rep Row 1.
Row 4:	Rep Row 2.
Row 5:	Rep Row 1.
Row 6:	Rep Row 2.
Row 7:	Rep Row 1.
Row 8:	Rep Row 2.
Row 9:	p2, * C4B, C4F, p2; rep from * to end.
Row 10:	k2, (p1, k1) x 3 times, p2, k2, * p8, k2, (p1, k1) x 3 times, p2, k2; rep from * to end.
Row 11:	p2, (k1, p1) x 3 times, k2, p2, * k8, p2, (k1, p1) x 3 times, k2, p2; rep from * to end.
Row 12:	Rep Row 10.
Row 13:	Rep Row 11.
Row 14:	Rep Row 10.
Row 15:	Rep Row 11.
Row 16:	Rep Row 10.
