Knit with Aabhar – Slipped Hourglass Stitch Pattern

Pattern Description

Slipped Hourglass stitch is a beautiful cable knitting pattern with cable stitches creating an embossed texture of stacked hourglass motifs. The narrow cables wind up vertically in a wavy fashion, making up the wavy hourglass shape.

It is a non-reversible pattern, but it has a little texture on the wrong side. The Slipped Hourglass stitch can be used in various projects, including home decor, blankets, and even hats.

CO	Cast on
k	Knit
p	Purl
rep	Repeat
RS	Right side
sl	Slip purlwise with yarn in front
st (s)	Stitch (es)
WS	Wrong side

Special stitches:

1/1 Right Purl Cross (1/1 RPC):

1. Knit into front loop of second stitch on left needle.
2. Purl the first stitch.
3. Slip both stitches off the left needle together.

1/1 Left Purl Cross (1/1 LPC):

1. Purl into back loop of second stitch on left needle.
2. Knit the first stitch.
3. Slip both stitches off the left needle together.

Pattern Instructions

CO (Multiple of 8 stitches) + 2 stitches. For example, you can cast on (8 x 3) + 2 = 26 stitches to knit a sample swatch.

Row 1 (RS):	p1, * p3, k2, p3; rep from * to last st, p1.
Row 2:	k1, * k3, sl 2, k3; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 3:	Rep Row 1.
Row 4:	Rep Row 2.
Row 5:	p1, * p2, 1/1 RPC, 1/1 LPC, p2; rep from * to last st, p1.
Row 6:	k1, * k2, sl 1, k2, sl 1, k2; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 7:	p1, * p1, 1/1 RPC, p2, 1/1 LPC, p1; rep from * to last st, p1.
Row 8:	k1, * k1, sl 1, k4, sl 1, k1; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 9:	p1, * 1/1 RPC, p4, 1/1 LPC; rep from * to last st, p1.
Row 10:	k1, * sl 1, k6, sl 1; rep from * to last st, k1.
