Gondola Crochet Stitch | Crochet with Aabhar

Gondola crochet stitch is a beautifully textured stitch where each motif looks like a hanging cable cars or maybe an apple! Ultimately, it’s all about your imagination. Enclosed in a trellis diamond shape, each motif is made with a variety of stitches.

It is a slightly dense, yet openwork crochet pattern that is easy to learn, repeating over 3 rows.

Special stitches:

wide-dc2tog: make a dc2tog with one leg in 1st st of the indicated group of stitches, and other leg in last st of the indicated group of stitches.

Pattern Instructions

Foundation ch: (Multiple of 10), plus 3 beg ch.
For example, start with (10 x 2) + 3 = 23 ch for a sample swatch.

Row 1 (RS):	1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in next 2 ch, * sk next 2 ch, [1dc, ch3, 1dc] in next ch, sk next 2 ch, 1dc in next 5 ch; rep from * to last 8 ch, sk next 2 ch, [1dc, ch3, 1dc] in next ch, sk next 2 ch, 1dc in last 3 ch, turn.
Row 2:	ch2, sk next dc, 1dc in next dc, * ch2, sk next dc, 5dc in next ch3-sp, ch2, sk next dc, wide-dc2tog over next 5 dc; rep from * to last ch3-sp, ch2, sk next dc, 5dc in last ch3-sp, ch2, sk next dc, wide-dc2tog over next 2 dc and t-ch, turn.
Row 3:	ch4 (counts as 1dc and ch1), 1dc in 1st dc, sk next ch2-sp, 1dc in next 5 dc, sk next ch2-sp, [1dc, ch3, 1dc] in next dc; rep from * to last 2 ch2-sps, sk next ch2-sp, 1dc in next 5 dc, sk next ch2-sp, [1dc, ch1, 1dc] in last dc, turn.
Row 4:	ch3 (counts as 1dc), 2dc in next ch1-sp, * ch2, sk next dc, wide-dc2tog over next 5 dc, ch2, sk next dc, 5dc in next ch3-sp; rep from * to last ch3-sp, ch2, sk next dc, wide-dc2tog over next 5 dc, ch2, sk next dc, 3dc in t-ch, turn.

Repeat Rows 2 – 5 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
