Sea of Shells Crochet Stitch | Crochet with Aabhar

As soon as you look at this stitch, it resembles a ‘Sea of Shells’! The crochet stitch features shell or ‘V’-shaped motifs made with layering of front post double crochet (fpdc) and double crochet (dc) stitches. The pattern is repeated over single row and 4 stitches.

Sea of Shells is a reversible and textured stitch that can be used in a variety of projects and will work with all size of yarns.

Special stitch:

long-hdc3tog: Half double crochet over the indicated 3 stitches, with slightly longer loops pulled to the height of a double crochet stitch.

Pattern Instructions

Foundation ch: (Multiple of 4) + 2, plus 3 beg ch.
For example, start with (4 x 4) + 2 + 3 = 21 ch for a sample swatch.

Row 1 (RS):	2dc in 6th ch from hook, ch1, 2dc in next ch, * sk next 2 ch, 2dc in next ch, ch1, 2dc in next ch; rep from * to last 2 sts, sk next ch, 1dc in last ch, turn.
Row 2:	ch3 (counts as 1dc), * sk next dc, 1fpdc in next dc, [1dc, ch1, 1dc] in next ch1-sp, 1fpdc in next dc, sk next dc; rep from * to t-ch, 1dc in t-ch, turn.

Repeat Row 2 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
