Faggoting Rib Stitch Pattern | Knit with Aabhar
Pattern Description
Faggoting Rib Stitch Pattern features a unique type of lace stitch, ‘faggoting’. If you were to make an all-over faggoting pattern, you will get an almost open mesh-like textured fabric. To create this pattern, you essentially combine alternating columns of faggoting lace and rib stitches.
The pattern is just two rows so it’s quite a simple one to follow even though the name is politically a minefield! So, although the name makes us uncomfortable, the stitch is something that every new knitter should try.
The Faggoting Rib Stitch Pattern is perfect for making a beret, baby blankets, or even as a vertical panel insertion between other cable stitches to set off the other patterns. If you use it as an all-over pattern, you will get a fabric that is elastic and stretchy which makes it ideal for making clothing like stockings, dress sleeves, and similar things.

Thank you – very neat pattern. I am thinking of making a short-sleeve top with alternating panels of St st and an all-over faggot lace. For the bodice & sleeve hems I was looking for a lacy version of ribbing and I think this will work perfectly!
