Lacy Diamonds Stitch Pattern is one of the most straightforward lace knitting patterns that creates a beautiful fabric of interlocking diamonds. It has a lace design over a background of stockinette stitch. The patterning of this lace is only on the Right Side (RS) row or the knit row. All the even rows are purl.
The name of the pattern comes from the way the eyelets are arranged. The eyelets (holes) create a diamond-shaped pattern. The pattern repeats are easy as the number of stitches increase and decrease to create the diamond shape.
The Lacy Diamonds Stitch Pattern is perfect for making shawls and light scarves. You can knit some breathable summer tops with lightweight cotton yarn using this pattern. It is also a common pattern for making dishcloths as being a lacy pattern, the knit fabric can dry quickly once wet.
As it is a lacy and delicate pattern, it is preferable to make a border with something like a garter stitch or seed stitch otherwise it tends to curl up a bit on the edges.
