Knit with Aabhar – Feather and Fan Stitch
Pattern Description
Feather and Fan Stitch is a classic Shetland knitting pattern, also referred to as ‘Old Shale’ or ‘Old Shell,’ as it resembles ocean waves on sand. Feather and Fan Stitch is very similar in appearance to the Lacy Zig Zag Ripple Crochet Stitch (an inverted crochet version) and Scallop Lace Knitting Stitch (a non-wavy version).
Despite looking slightly complex and gorgeous, it is a pretty simple pattern to knit. The pattern has wavy edges at both ends, and it lays flat. It is a simple 4-row repeat, making it a beginner-friendly lace knitting pattern. This classic pattern has hundreds of variations, as it can be easily modified to fit any project.
Feather and Fan Stitch is not a reversible knitting pattern but also looks beautiful on the other side. It is a great stitch for knitting baby dresses, blankets, scarves, and other decorative items. You can change colors after every 4 rows to make a vibrant and colorful fabric.
