Crochet with Aabhar – Diagonal Stripes Crochet Stitch
Diagonal Stripes Crochet Stitch creates a fabric with quite a bit of texture and gives an appearance that’s very similar to that of a woven fabric. It is similar to the Basketweave Stitch, except the mesh is diagonal instead of horizontal and vertical.
Diagonal Stripes are created using front post double crochet (fpdc) and back post double crochet (bpdc) stitches. Moving them by one stitch creates the staggering effect of the stitches. The use of post stitches makes it an intermediate-level crochet stitch. It is a four-row repeat pattern where the blocks of 4 stitches are moving along the row one stitch at a time. The columns and rows created by the fpdc and bpdc stitches are forced to shift diagonally. It is important to keep a track of which row repeat you are working on so that the pattern works up correctly.
It is a reversible pattern where the direction of stripes changes when you flip it. So, it is perfect for little projects like handbags, homewares, and even dishcloths.
