Crochet with Aabhar – Crocodile Crochet Stitch

Crocodile Crochet Stitch is a unique stitch that creates a 3D textured fabric with repeating motifs that resemble scales of reptiles like a crocodile or a fish. Its layered appearance makes it stand out from most other crochet stitches. It is also popular as Fish Scale Crochet Stitch in the crochet community.

The unique texture of the Crocodile Stitch comes from creating a foundation of double crochet stitches followed by stitches that form the scale motifs. Each scale is basically a bunch of double crochet stitches brought together. It’s not an overall complex pattern as it uses simple stitches, it just involves working with the project turned in different ways. When you start making this pattern, you will find it a little bit difficult, but after completing a few scales, it will be easy to continue. The pattern repeats over 6 stitches and 4 rows.

Because of its scaly appearance, the Crocodile Crochet Stitch is perfect for making any fantasy-inspired projects that feature dragons or even mermaids. It will also be a fun pattern to work in projects like bags, pillow covers, or other projects where only one side will show as it is not a reversible pattern.
