Single Rib Crochet Stitch creates a beautifully textured crochet fabric with incredible stretch and flexibility. There are multiple types of crochet ribbing stitches, and the single rib crochet is one of the most versatile and easy to learn.
Though the stitch’s name includes the word ‘single,’ it is created by working double crochet stitches. It’s a simple stitch to learn if you are familiar with front post double crochet (fpdc) and back post double crochet (bpdc). You need an even number of chains to work on this stitch, and it is worked by repeating a single row (Row 2) of the stitch instructions.
One thing to keep in mind while working with this stitch is that the work will shrink up quite a bit compared to the first row of your project. This is a perfect stitch pattern for any project where you want to add a little ribbing like a hat or a sweater.
