exdc (extended double crochet) –

1. Yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook).
2. Yarn over and pull through the first loop on hook (3 loops on hook).
3. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops twice (1 loop on hook).

Pattern Instructions

Foundation ch: (Multiple of 4) + 2, plus 3 beg ch.
For example, start with (4 x 5) + 2 + 3 = 25 ch for a sample swatch.

Row 1 (RS):	1exdc in 4th ch from hook, * 1exdc in next ch; rep from * to end, turn.
Row 2:	ch3 (counts as 1exdc), 1exdc in next 2 dc, * ch10, sk next st, 1exdc in next 3 sts; rep from * to last 4 sts, ch10, sk next st, 1exdc in next 2 sts, 1exdc in t-ch, turn.
Row 3:	ch9 (counts as 1dtr), 3exdc in next ch10-sp, * ch1, 3exdc in next ch10-sp; rep from * to t-ch, ch1, 1trtr in t-ch, turn.
Row 4:	ch1, 1sc in 1st st, * 1sc in ch1-sp, 1sc in next 3 sts; rep from * to t-ch, 2sc in t-ch, turn.

Repeat Rows 2 – 4 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
