Lattice Crochet Stitch | Crochet with Aabhar
Lattice crochet stitch resembles a mesh or trellis that combines basic crochet stitches – single crochet and chain stitch. It is a very simple crochet stitch that is perfect for beginners. It is also popular with the names – Simple Mesh Stitch, 3 Stitch Mesh, and Arch Mesh Crochet Stitch. Even though it is an openwork pattern, the crocheted fabric is surprisingly stable, but it also depends on the type of yarn you choose to work with.
In this mesh stitch, the stitches are placed into the chain spaces instead of the tops of the stitches in the previous row. This crochet pattern works up pretty quickly, but it will require blocking to avoid curling and shrinking.
This openwork pattern is great for summer and warm-weather accessories, stoles, wraps, etc. As it is a lace pattern, you can make it with any type of yarn, but it will look best with lightweight yarn. You can further enhance this Lattice Crochet Pattern by weaving contrasting colors of yarn through the mesh-like structure.

Pattern Instructions
Foundation ch: (Multiple of 3 ch) + 1 ch, plus 1 beg ch.
For example, start with (3 x 6) + 1 + 1 = 20 chains for a sample swatch.
| Row 1 (RS): | 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, * ch3, sk next 2 ch, 1sc in next ch; rep from * to end, turn. |
| Row 2: | ch1, 1sc in 1st sc, ch2, 1sc in next ch3-sp, * ch3, 1sc in next ch3-sp; rep from * to last ch3-sp, ch2, 1sc in last sc, turn. |
| Row 3: | ch1, 1sc in 1st sc, * ch3, 1sc in next ch3-sp; rep from * to last ch3-sp, ch3, 1sc in last sc, turn. |
Repeat Rows 2 & 3 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
