Arcade Crochet Stitch is a lovely reversible pattern that creates an airy fabric with a fan-like pattern. It creates a lovely repetitive, geometric pattern with a lacy design. All the eyelets are evenly shaped and the arches look quite sophisticated. It is also referred to as the Crochet Wheatsheaf Stitch by some crocheters.
It is an offset stitch pattern that repeats after a few subsequent rows. This is different from the usual symmetrical stitch patterns, where the design or motif repeats directly on top of each other in subsequent rows. Along with repeating after every four rows, the stitches move over a bit, creating a beautiful arch.
Arcade Stitch is also perfect for creating edging in projects. You cannot see from the images as we have cropped out the edges, but it creates wavy ends.
Although the crochet stitch may look a bit complicated, it is a simple crochet stitch that repeats over four rows and six chain stitches. To create the arch in the Arcade Crochet Stitch, you need to be familiar with single crochet (sc) and double crochet (dc) stitches.
You can make this pattern in just about any thickness of yarn and thread. It looks gorgeous whether you use a fine yarn or a bulky yarn.
