Shells Symphony Crochet Stitch | Crochet with Aabhar

Shells Symphony crochet stitch creates an elegant and delicate crocheted fabric. The shell stitches in each row are strategically placed to sit on top of the chain spaces of previous row. This staggered placement creates the beautiful, repeating diamond-shaped openwork. The chain spaces and the placement of the shells also naturally form the scalloped, undulating edges of the fabric.

The pattern repeats over 3 rows and 10 stitches with scalloped edges at the working end. You can make decorative runners, covers, and shawls with this crochet pattern.

Foundation ch: (Multiple of 10) + 1, plus 5 beg ch.
For example, start with (10 x 2) + 1 + 5 = 26 ch for a sample swatch.

Row 1 (RS):	1sc in 8th ch from hook, * ch5, sk next 4 ch, 1sc in next ch; rep from * to last 3 ch, ch2, 1dc in last ch, turn.
Row 2:	ch4 (counts as 1dc and ch1), 3dc in next ch2-sp, ch2, 1sc in next ch5-sp, * ch2, [3dc, ch2, 3dc] in next ch5-sp, ch2, 1sc in next ch5-sp; rep from * to t-ch, ch2, [3dc, ch1, 1dc] in t-ch, turn.
Row 3:	ch1, 1sc in 1st dc, * ch3, 1dc in next 3 dc, sk next sc, 1dc in next 3 dc, ch3, 1sc in next ch3-sp; rep from * to end, making last sc in t-ch, turn.
Row 4:	ch5 (counts as 1dc and ch2), 1sc in next ch3-sp, * ch5, 1sc in next ch3-sp; rep from * to last sc, ch2, 1dc in last sc, turn.

Repeat Rows 2 – 4 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
