Raised Ridge Crochet Stitch | Crochet with Aabhar

Raised Ridge Crochet stitch is a highly textured pattern with raised horizontal stripes creating valleys and peaks between rows. The pattern is simple but has a unique flair that sets it apart from other stripes patterns. Unlike the Corded Ridge, this one is much more flexible and soft.

It uses a new stitch so that might take a bit of time to learn but otherwise, it’s a single stitch, 4-rows repeat. You can choose different colors with an alternating arrangement or go for the whole rainbow, it will look gorgeous.

This free pattern is written using US crochet terms.

beg	beginning
ch	chain
ch-sp	chain space(s)
hdc	half double crochet
rep	repeat
st (s)	stitch (es)
t-ch	turning chain

Special stitch:

slip-hdc (slip half double crochet):

1. Yarn over, insert hook into indicated st & pull up a loop (3 loops on hook).
2. Pull 1st loop in through the other 2 loops on hook.

Pattern Instructions

Foundation ch: any number of ch.
For example, start with 22 ch for a sample swatch.

Row 1 (RS):	[Color A] 1hdc in 4th ch from hook, * 1hdc in next ch; rep from * to end, turn.
Row 2:	[Color A] ch1 (does not count as a st), * 1 x [slip-hdc] in next hdc; rep from * to t-ch, 1 x [slip-hdc] in t-ch changing the yarn to color B.
Row 3:	[Color B] ch2 (counts as 1hdc), sk 1st st, * 1hdc in next st; rep from * to t-ch, 1hdc in t-ch, turn.
Row 4:	[Color B] ch1 (does not count as a st), * 1 x [slip-hdc] in next hdc; rep from * to t-ch, 1 x [slip-hdc] in t-ch changing the yarn to color A.
Row 5:	[Color A] ch2 (counts as 1hdc), sk 1st st, * 1hdc in next st; rep from * to t-ch, 1hdc in t-ch, turn.

Repeat Rows 2 – 5 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
