Nara Crochet Stitch | Crochet with Aabhar

Nara Stitch may be visually similar to the Front Raised Double Crochet Stitch, but it is quite simpler. It features a mix of extended half double crochet and slip stitches.

The pattern repeats over two rows and is easy to learn. It works well in projects which require a little bit of stretch – like caps, headbands, etc. It’s almost like a ribbing stitch in the way it turns out.

Abbreviations

This free pattern is written using US crochet terms.

beg	beginning
ch	chain
rep	repeat
sl	slip
st (s)	stitch (es)
t-ch	turning chain

Special stitches:

ehdc (extended half double crochet):

1. yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch
2. yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook)
3. yarn over and pull through one loop
4. yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on hook.

sl st flo: slip stitch through front loop only

Pattern Instructions

Foundation ch: any number of chains, plus 1 beg ch.
For example, start with 20 + 1 = 21 ch for a sample swatch.

Row 1 (RS):	1ehdc in 2nd ch from hook, * 1ehdc in next ch; rep from * to end, turn.
Row 2:	ch1, [sl st flo] in 1st st, * [sl st flo] in next st; rep from * to t-ch, sl st (through both loops) in t-ch, turn.
Row 3:	ch1, 1ehdc in 1st st, * 1ehdc in next st; rep from * to end, turn.

Repeat Rows 2 & 3 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
