Little Hearts Crochet Stitch | Crochet with Aabhar
Little Hearts is a highly textured crochet stitch with repeating tiny heart-like motifs, separated by alternating rows of half double crochet stitch. You can make it in two colors alternatively or keep the whole pattern in one color.
The pattern repeats over 2 stitches and 2 rows, and it is a slightly complex one as each heart motif is made in a quite different way from usual stitches.

This free pattern is written using US crochet terms.

Special stitch:
heart st:
- 1dc in the indicated st.
- Working along the post of the dc just made, [insert hook around the post of dc, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through first loop on hook] x 3 times. (4 loops on hook)
- Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on hook.
Pattern Instructions
Foundation ch: (Multiple of 2), plus 2 beg ch.
For example, start with (2 x 10) + 2 = 22 ch for a sample swatch.
| Row 1 (WS): | [Color A] 1hdc in 3rd ch from hook, * 1hdc in next ch; rep from * to end, turn. Change to Color B. |
| Row 2: | [Color B] ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1 x [heart st], sk next hdc; rep from * to t-ch, 1dc in t-ch, turn. Change to Color A. |
| Row 3: | [Color A] ch1, 1hdc in 1st dc, * 1hdc in each of next 2 sts of the heart st; rep from * to t-ch, 1hdc in t-ch, turn. Change to Color B. |
Repeat Rows 2 & 3 in the appropriate colors of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
