Honeycomb Cable Stitch is a panel of mini cable stitches arranged in a honeycomb-like network in a diamond shape stacked over each other.

As it is a panel knitting pattern, you can use it in projects like market bags, cushion covers, or even pullovers.

CO	Cast on
C2F	Cable 2 Front (sl 1 to CN, hold in front, k1, k1 from CN)
C2B	Cable 2 Back (sl 1 to CN, hold in back, k1, k1 from CN)
k	Knit
p	Purl
RS	Right side
st (s)	Stitch (es)
WS	Wrong side

Making cable stitches without using a cable needle:

C2B (Cable 2 Back)

1. Slip next stitch off the left needle, hold it in back of work
2. Transfer next stitch from left needle to right needle
3. Pick up the slipped stitch on the left needle
4. Transfer the stitch from right needle back to left needle
5. Knit both the stitches

C2F (Cable 2 Front)

1. Slip next stitch off the left needle, hold it in front of work
2. Transfer next stitch from left needle to right needle
3. Pick up the slipped stitch on the left needle
4. Transfer the stitch from right needle back to left needle
5. Knit both the stitches

Pattern Instructions

CO a multiple of 12 sts for the panel and a few extra on both sides to make up the reverse stockinette st background. For example, you can cast on 4 (background) + 12 (panel) + 4 (background) = 20 stitches for a sample swatch. 

Row 1 (RS):	k4, C2F, C2B, k4.
Row 2:	Purl.
Row 3:	k2, [C2F, C2B] x 2 times, k2.
Row 4:	Purl.
Row 5:	[C2F, C2B] x 3 times.
Row 6:	Purl.
Row 7:	[C2B, C2F] x 3 times.
Row 8:	Purl.
Row 9:	k2, [C2B, C2F] x 2 times, k2.
Row 10:	Purl.
Row 11:	k4, C2B, C2F, k4.
Row 12:	Purl.
