Cloud Crochet Stitch | Crochet with Aabhar

Cloud crochet stitch is a dense, nubby stitch with small, tightly packed bumps that looks like tiny clouds. The crocheted fabric looks soft and squishy, unlike most lacy crochet patterns.

It’s a good stitch for washcloths, dishcloths, scarves, or anything needing a firm yet textured surface.

This free pattern is written using US crochet terms.

ch	chain
rep	repeat
sc	single crochet
sl st	slip stitch
st (s)	stitch (es)
yo	yarn over

Special stitch:

cloud-st:

1. yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo and draw up a loop.
2. yo, draw through first 2 loops on hook.
3. insert hook into the same st, yo and draw up a loop.
4. yo and draw through remaining loops on your hook.

Pattern Instructions

Foundation ch: (Multiple of 2) + 1, plus 1 beg ch.
For example, start with (2 x 10) + 1 + 1 = 22 ch for a sample swatch.

Row 1 (RS):	1sc in 2nd ch from hook, * 1sc in next ch; rep from * to end, turn.
Row 2:	ch1, sl st in 1st sc, * cloud-st in next sc, sl st in next sc; rep from * to end, turn.
Row 3:	ch1, 1sc in 1st st, * 1sc in next st; rep from * to end, turn.

Repeat Rows 2 & 3 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
