Foundation ch: Multiple of 2, plus 3 beg ch.
For example, start with (2 x 12) + 3 = 26 ch for a sample swatch.

Row 1 (RS):	1dc in 4th ch from hook, * 1dc in next ch; rep from * to end, turn.
Row 2:	ch4 (counts as 1dc and ch1), sk next dc, * 1dc in next dc, ch1, sk next dc; rep from * to t-ch, 1dc in t-ch, turn.
Row 3:	ch3 (counts as 1dc), * 1dc in next ch1-sp, 1dc in next dc; rep from * to t-ch, 1dc in t-ch, 1dc in 3rd ch of t-ch, turn.

Repeat Rows 2 & 3 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
