Ridged Single Crochet Stitch | Crochet with Aabhar
Ridged Single Crochet is like a highly textured version of classic single crochet stitch with alternating rows of embossed stitches. In a way, it is similar to alternating rows of valleys and mountains.
Although the pattern is just a one row and one stitch repeat, the special stitch, the one which gives it the most texture – connected crochet stitch, is slightly tricky. Once you get a hang of it, you will be able to make anything with this in no time. And one thing to keep in mind while using this stitch for any crochet projects is that it takes a lot more yarn compared to the classic single crochet.

Special stitch:
csc (connected single crochet):
- Insert hook into left bar of prev sc & pull up a loop [2 loops on hook].
- Insert hook into base of prev st & pull up a loop [3 loops on hook].
- Insert hook into next st & pull up a loop [4 loops on hook].
- Yarn over & pull through all 4 loops on hook.
Pattern Instructions
Foundation ch: any number of ch.
For example, start with 22 ch for a sample swatch.
| Row 1 (RS): | 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, * 1sc in next ch; rep from * to end, turn. |
| Row 2: | ch1, 1sc in 1st st, * 1csc in next st; rep from * to end, turn. |
Repeat Row 2 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
