Half Shell Crochet Stitch | Crochet with Aabhar

Half Shell crochet stitch resembles a classic ‘crochet shell’ stitch chopped in half and we’re just left with a triangle sort of motif. Each motif is arranged in rows and columns leaving out lots of open spaces which will give the crocheted fabric an airy vibe.

Repeating over 4 stitches and 4 rows, it’s one of the simpler crochet stitches that you can master in no time.

Pattern Instructions

Foundation ch: (Multiple of 4) + 1, plus 1 beg ch.
For example, start with (4 x 5) + 1 + 1 = 22 ch for a sample swatch.

Row 1 (RS):	1sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch3, 3dc in same ch as 1st sc, * sk next 3 ch, [1sc, ch3, 3dc] in next ch; rep from * to last 4 ch, sk next 3 ch, 1sc in last ch, turn.
Row 2:	ch6, * 1sc in next ch3-sp, ch3; rep from * to last ch3-sp, 1sc in last ch3-sp, turn.
Row 3:	ch1, [1sc, ch3, 3dc] in 1st sc, * sk next 3 ch, [1sc, ch3, 3dc] in next ch; rep from * to last 4 ch, sk next 3 ch, 1sc in last ch, turn.

Repeat Rows 2 & 3 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
