Granite Rib knitting stitch is a distinct textured pattern that creates a diagonal or chevron-like effect alternating with stockinette columns.

The pattern repeats over 4 rows and gives a nice appearance with smooth columns alternating with braided diagonal lines.

CN	Cable needle
CO	Cast on
C2F	Cable 2 Front (sl 1 to CN, hold in front, k1, k1 from CN)
k	Knit
p	Purl
rep	Repeat
RS	Right side
st (s)	Stitch (es)
WS	Wrong side

Making cable stitch without using a cable needle:

C2F (Cable 2 Front):

1. Knit into front of second stitch on left needle.
2. Knit the first stitch.
3. Slip both stitches off the left needle together.

Special stitch:

k3-twist:

1. Knit 3rd st from left hand needle, without slipping it off.
2. Knit 2nd st from left hand needle, without slipping it off.
3. Knit 1st st from left hand needle, without slipping it off.
4. Slip all 3 sts off left hand needle together.

Pattern Instructions

CO (Multiple of 8 stitches) + 2 stitches. For example, you can cast on (8 x 3) + 2 = 26 stitches to knit a sample swatch.

Row 1 (RS):	k2, * [C2F] x 3 times, k2; rep from * to end.
Row 2:	Purl.
Row 3:	k2, * [k3-twist] x 2 times, k2; rep from * to end.
Row 4:	Purl.
