CO (Multiple of 16 sts) + 1 stitch. For example, you can cast on (16 x 2) + 1 = 33 stitches to knit a sample swatch.

Row 1 (RS):	* p1, k6, p3, k6; rep from * to last st, p1.
Row 2:	k1, * p5, k5, p5, k1; rep from * to end.
Row 3:	* p1, k4, p2, k1, p1, k1, p2, k4; rep from * to last st, p1.
Row 4:	k1, * p3, k2, p2, k1, p2, k2, p3, k1; rep from * to end.
Row 5:	* p1, k2, p2, k3, p1, k3, p2, k2; rep from * to last st, p1.
Row 6:	k1, * p1, k2, p4, k1, p4, k2, p1, k1; rep from * to end.
Row 7:	* p3, k5, p1, k5, p2; rep from * to last st, p1.
Row 8:	k1, * k1, p6, k1, p6, k2; rep from * to end.
