Criss Cross Crochet Stitch | Crochet with Aabhar

Criss Cross Crochet stitch is a simple 2 row repeat pattern with a motif that’s just 2 stitch long with crossing double crochet stitches. It looks like criss-crossing yarn over a corded rope.

The pattern is a little bit stiff with overlapping and looping yarn, but it has a lot of open spaces.

Pattern Instructions

Foundation ch: (Multiple of 2) + 1, plus 1 beg ch.
For example, start with (2 x 10) + 1 + 1 = 22 ch for a sample swatch.

Row 1 (RS):	1sc in 2nd ch from hook, * ch1, sk next ch, 1sc in next ch; rep from * to end, turn.
Row 2:	ch3 (counts as 1dc), sk next ch1-sp, 1dc in next ch1-sp, 1dc in prev ch1-sp just skipped; rep from * to last st, 1dc in last sc, turn.
Row 3:	ch1, 1 sl st in 1st st, * 1 sl st in next st; rep from * to t-ch, 1 sl st in t-ch, turn.
Row 4:	ch3 (counts as 1dc), 1dc in sp after the next dc-cross 2 rows below, 1dc in sp before the same dc-cross 2 rows below; rep from * to last st, 1dc in last sc, turn.

Repeat Rows 2 & 3 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
