Stacked Arches crochet stitch features vertical columns of steeply curved arches. Each arch is spread over seven stitches and the pattern repeats over two rows.

Special stitches:

ext-dc2tog (extended double crochet 2 stitches together):

1. Yarn over, insert hook into the first stitch of the indicated group of stitches & pull up a loop.
2. Yarn over and pull through first 2 loops on the hook.
3. Yarn over, insert hook into the last stitch of the indicated group of stitches & pull up a loop.
4. Yarn over and pull through 1st 2 loops on the hook.
5. Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on the hook.

ext-dc-tr-tog (extended double crochet & treble crochet together):

1. Yarn over, insert hook into the first stitch of the indicated group of stitches & pull up a loop.
2. Yarn over and pull through first 2 loops on the hook.
3. Yarn over 2 times, insert hook into the last stitch of the indicated group of stitches & pull up a loop.
4. [Yarn over and pull through 1st 2 loops on the hook] x 2 times.
5. Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on the hook.

Pattern Instructions

Foundation ch: (Multiple of 7) + 8, plus 1 beg ch.
For example, start with (7 x 2) + 8 + 1 = 23 ch for a sample swatch.

Row 1 (WS):	1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in next 3 ch, * ch5, 1sc in next 7 ch; rep from * to last 4 ch, ch5, 1sc in last 4 ch, turn.
Row 2:	ch1, 1sc in 1st sc, * sk next 3 sc, 12dc in next ch5-sp, sk next 3 sc, 1sc in next sc; rep from * to end, turn.
Row 3:	ch1, 1sc in 1st sc, * sk next dc, 1sc flo in next 5 dc, ch5, 1sc flo in next 5 dc, sk next dc, 1sc in next sc; rep from * to end, turn.
Row 4:	ch4 (counts as 1 tr), sk next 2 sc, 1dc in next sc, * sk next 2 sc, 12dc in next ch5-sp, sk next 2 sc, 1 x [ext-dc2tog] over next 7 sts; rep from * to last ch5-sp, sk next 2 sc, 12dc in next ch5-sp, sk next 2 sc, 1 x [ext-dc-tr-tog] over next 4 sts, turn.

Repeat Rows 3 & 4 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
