Side Saddle Crochet Stitch | Crochet with Aabhar
Side Saddle (or the Side Saddle Cluster) Crochet Stitch features repetitive motifs arranged in beautiful and geometric pattern. While there’e enough texture in crocheted fabric, it looks really gorgeous from the sides.
Although it combines single crochet, double crochet, and chain stitches, it still looks unique. The pattern repeats over 5 stitches and 2 rows.

Special stitch:
cl (cluster): Make dc4tog over the indicated group of stitches.
Pattern Instructions
Foundation ch: (Multiple of 5) + 1, plus 1 beg ch.
For example, start with (5 x 4) + 1 + 1 = 22 ch for a sample swatch.
| Row 1 (RS): | 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, * ch3, 1cl over next 4 ch, ch1, 1sc in next ch; rep from * to end, turn. |
| Row 2: | ch5 (counts as 1dc and ch2), 1sc in next cl, * ch3, 1cl in next ch3-sp, ch1, 1sc in next cl; rep from * to last ch3-sp, ch3, 1cl in next ch3-sp, 1dc in last sc, turn. |
| Row 3: | ch1, sk 1st dc, 1sc in next cl, * ch3, 1cl in next ch3-sp, ch1, 1sc in next cl; rep from * to last ch3-sp, ch3, 1cl in next ch3-sp, ch1, 1sc in t-ch, turn. |
Repeat Rows 2 & 3 of this free crochet stitch pattern until you have reached the desired length for your work.
