Horizontal Dash knitting stitch features alternating horizontal purl dashes over a stockinette background. Here we have a 6-stitch dash, and you can modify the numbers as per your requirements. You can even change the number of rows in between the dash positions.

The pattern can be used in knitting sweaters, cardigans, and even afghans.

CO	Cast on
k	Knit
p	Purl
rep	Repeat
RS	Right side
st (s)	Stitch (es)
WS	Wrong side

Pattern Instructions

CO (Multiple of 10 stitches) + 6 stitches. For example, you can cast on (10 x 2) + 6 = 26 stitches to knit a sample swatch.

Row 1 (RS):	p6, * k4, p6; rep from * to end.
Row 2:	Purl.
Row 3:	Knit.
Row 4:	Purl.
Row 5:	p1, * k4, p6; rep from * to last 5 sts, k4, p1.
Row 6:	Purl.
Row 7:	Knit.
Row 8:	Purl.

Repeat these free knitting pattern instructions (8 rows) until you have reached the desired length for your work.
