Pattern Description

Granite Lace Stitch is a textured, all-over lace knitting pattern that looks a lot like an open mesh or a grid of vertical and horizontal lines. Unlike the usual mesh patterns, the knitted fabric is much stiffer and has a good drape. It does not curl into itself, but it is not a reversible pattern.

It is a beginner-friendly pattern where every alternate row is purl, and all you need is knowledge of basic knitting stitches like knits, purls, and other stitches associated with lace knitting like yo, ssk, psso, and k2tog. The combination of ‘sl 2, k1, psso’ is also referred to as centered double decrease or simply double decrease, where you have to slip 2 stitches together knit-wise, knit 1 stitch, and then pass both slipped stitches over the knit stitch.

Because of its texture, the Granite Lace Stitch is a fantastic pattern for knitting cowls, sweaters, cardigans, and even table decor items.
